Excellence should be celebrated when it is found. Meet a senior secondary school one (SSS1) student, Nwakmfon Unwana Jacob, a Nigerian mathematics genius, who conquered the US, Germany, Indonesia, South Africa, and Ghana in mathematics competitions

He has put smiles on the faces of Nigerians as his photos of medals bagged in mathematics competitions around the world have surfaced on social media.

You might be wondering about the numerous medals just on one neck. The smart kid has proved himself within the space of two and a half years to be an intercontinental  mathematics champion.

His school, Graceland International School posted this achievement on its Facebook page and tagged the post “The Chronicle of a Global Mathematics Champion.”

Among the prizes Jacob has won to emerge as a mathematics champion are Bronze Medal and Gold Medals in 2021 and 2022 respectively in Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO), Gold Medal in 2019, Silver Medal in 2020, Silver Medal and 3rd in Nigeria (2021 Spring), and Gold Medal and 2nd in Nigeria (2021 Fall) under the American Mathematics Competition (AMC).

He has also won a Silver Medal (International 2020), a Gold Medal (National 2020) and a Gold Medal (National 2021) in South African Mathematics Olympiad. He also received International Youth Maths Challenge, IYMC (Europe), Silver Honour Award (2021), and National Award (Best in Nigeria 2021).

In addition, Jacob bagged a Distinguished Honourable Mention Award (2022) at the Stamford Mathematics Tournament, USA and the Overall Best Student Award (2022) for Most Inspired Science and Engineering Foundation (MISE), Ghana-MIT, USA.

Prof. Brainne Greene, a renowned physicist in super string theory, granted Jacob admission to the World Science Scholars program while he is currently conducting research in Ghana.
